COLLEGE ACCESS FOUNDATION OF CALIFORNIA ANNOUNCES TWO NEW STAFF MEMBERS RESPONSIBLE FOR GRANTS AND EVALUATION
San Francisco, CA – College Access Foundation of California announced the appointment of Victor Garcia as program officer and Jumin Kim as research and data analyst. Both will play key roles in the foundation’s grant making and evaluation work.
Victor Garcia will manage a portfolio of grants and contribute to the foundation’s strategic planning and development efforts. He has spent more than a decade promoting college opportunity among low-income and first-generation students in California. Most recently, he directed outreach for the Center for Higher Education Policy Analysis at the University of Southern California (USC).
Garcia earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of California Santa Cruz, and a master’s in public administration from California State University Long Beach. He will earn a doctorate in education from USC in May 2010.
As research and data analyst, Jumin Kim will manage the foundation’s efforts to build evidence on the impact of scholarships in increasing college access and completion, including collecting and assessing data on the students who receive scholarships from organizations supported by the foundation.
Previously, Jumin directed alumni relations for Summer Search, a San Francisco-based organization that promotes college success and civic engagement among students nationally. She earned her bachelor’s degree in communication from the University of Pennsylvania and a master’s in social work from Columbia University.
“We are delighted to welcome Victor and Jumin to our program team,” said Jay Sherwin, vice president for Programs at the foundation. “Both will bring valuable professional experience and a strong personal commitment to our mission of increasing college access and success for California students.”
